Turkey is a transcontinental country straddling Southeastern Europe and Western Asia being regional power and a newly industrialized country—ranking very high in the Human Development Index. Turkey therefore has a high standard of education comparable to USA, Canada and the UK. Turkey is open to giving both undergraduate and post graduate admission to foreigners, especially African students. There are around 820 higher education institutions including universities with a total student enrollment of over 1 million, both government o owned universities and private universities, which are on a yearly basis seeking to admit foreign students into various undergraduate or post graduate programs.
WHAT IS THE DURATION UNIVERSITY EDUCATION IN TUREKY?
Universities in Turkey provide either two or four years of education for undergraduate studies, while post graduate programs last a minimum of two years. Some universities also ask for an additional year of English preparatory study to be completed before the start of studies. Vocational course duration is also for two years. With this course students will be trained and equipped with various skills in Turkish universities.
HOW CAN A FOREIGN STUDENT APPLY TO STUDY IN TURKEY?
There are two major ways through which students can gain admission to study in Turkey namely, the YOS Exam and Direct Entry (exam exemption). The former is applicable to undergraduate studies in Turkey while the later is applicable to both undergraduate and post graduate studies in Turkey.
WHAT IS YOS EXAM?
The YÖS Examination is an entrance examination designed for foreign students wishing to study in higher education institutions in Turkey. The results of this exam apply only for students wishing to enroll in undergraduate programs or vocational programs. Students presently enrolled in undergraduate program who seek a transfer from one university to another in Turkey also need to write the YOS exam.
All students that write the YOS exam get their admission to study in Turkey. No student fails the YOS exam regardless of what they score in the exam. Their scores are used to place them into various departments.
When a student registers with us, we shall ask him or her to select five courses that he or she wishes to study in Turkey. Their YOS exam score will be used to give them admission into any of the five departments that they have chosen.
WHAT ARE THE SUBJECTS WRITTEN IN YOS EXAM?
Three subjects are usually written in the YOS Exam namely:
- English Language: This tests the level of the students’ knowledge of English Language.
- Mathematics: This comprises general Mathematics and Further Mathematics questions.
- Aptitude test: These set of questions test the general reasoning of the students.
DURATION OF THE YOS EXAM
The YOS exam duration is 1hour 20 minutes with a total of 80 questions to answer.
HOW AND WHERE WILL THE YOS EXAM BE WRITTEN?
The YOS exam can be written either off line or online. The Turkish officials from various universities in Turkey do come to administer the YOS exam in various countries in Africa when they decide to host the YOS exam offline. We shall inform our students the dates and locations of the YOS exam.
This YOS exam can also be written online. The online session shall be strictly supervised by the Turkish officials and invigilators in Africa. Students can write the online YOS exam in any location of his/her choice. They must be connected to the internet with their computer (either laptop or desktop) and their phone numbers.
HOW LONG IS THE YOS EXAM SCORE VALID?
The YOS exam score is valid for 2 years. This means that the students can use the YOS exam score to gain admission into any Turkish government university within 2 years. When you write the YOS exam with us, we shall use it to place you for admission into any Turkish university. If for any reason you did not apply for visa and book your flight within the first year of your writing the YOS Exam, you can do so the following year.
WHAT IS THE QUALIFICATION FOR THE YOS EXAM?
To write the YOS exam, prospective students should have the following qualifications:
- SSCE results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE or any equivalent) with at least 5 credits, including Mathematics and English Language, not more than two sittings.
- Students who are yet to write any SSCE exam or who are awaiting their results can also write the YOS exam since the YOS score lasts for 2 years.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE BEFORE STUDENTS’ ADMISSION WILL BE OUT?
It takes between one to two months after writing the YOS exam before students’ admissions are out.
IS THERE TUTORIAL AND STUDY MATERIAL FOR THE YOS EXAM?
To ensure that our students do well in the YOS exam, we organize tutorials for the YOS exam. The tutorial is held both online and offline. The duration for the tutorial is 2 months before the date of the YOS exam. The cost for the tutorial fee is 10,000Naira [$20USD ($1USD=500Naira, due to bank charges and transfer rates)] per month. Students who want to score high in the YOS exam are advised to register for the tutorial classes.
We also give our students study material or handout which contains past questions and answers for the YOS exams. The questions are most like to come out in the YOS exam.
CAN A STUDENT CHANGE HIS/HER COURSE AFTER GETTING ADMISSION?
A student can change his/her course after getting admission. This can be done in the University when the student gets to Turkey.
CAN YOS EXAM SCORE BE USED FOR VOCATIONAL COURSE IN TURKEY?
Vocational courses in Turkey are trade courses that students do in order to learn skills and be empowered. Vocational courses duration is 2 years in any Turkish university. So when you get your admission to study vocational courses in Turkey, you will have to spend 2 years before graduation. With YOS exam, you can get admission into vocational courses in any Turkish university. After graduating from the university, you will be permitted to stay in Turkey and work there as long as you want.
However, foreign students can also be working will undergoing vocational training in Turkey.
CAN FOREIGN STUDENTS BE ALLOWED TO WORK WHEN STUDYING IN TURKEY?
Foreign students are allowed to work when they are studying in Turkey. Kings Delight Consult is not responsible for the type of job that students can get when they get to Turkey. We are not the one that will provide jobs for student in Turkey. We do advice students to focus on their studies when they get to study.
On getting to Turkey, students are to compulsorily learn the Turkish language for the first eight months. This will help them in terms of lectures in the University as not all the courses are thought in English Language. When a student has learnt the Turkish Language, he or she can be able to secure a better job in Turkey.
DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSION FOR STUDENTS TO STUDY IN TURKEY
Foreign students can get admission to study in Turkey through direct entry or exam exemption. This means that the students do not need to write an entrance exam before they can be given admission to study in Turkey. Students can apply for either undergraduate study. Masters degree or PhD programs through direct entry or exam exemption and they shall be given admission.
REQUIREMENTS OF UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION THROUGH DIRECT ENTRY/EXAM EXEMPTION
To get admission into undergraduate programs through direct entry or exam exemption, the following requirements are needed:
- SSCE results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE or any equivalent) with at least 5 credits, including Mathematics and English Language, not more than two sittings.
- Data page of international passport
- Secondary school testimonial
- Data page of international passport
REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTERS DEGREE ADMISSION THROUGH DIRECT ENTRY
Masters Degree admission to study in Turkey can be done through direct entry, no need for international exams like IELTS, TOEFL, SAT etc. Students’ admissions are guaranteed when they apply through KINGS DELIGHT CONSULTS.
- BSc/HND certificate or statement of results with at least 2.2 final CGPA.
- Transcript of results.
- SSCE results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE or any equivalent) with at least 5 credits, including Mathematics and English Language, not more than two sittings.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR STUDENTS TO GET ADMISSION TO STUDY THROUGH DIRECT ENTRY/EXAM EXEMPTION
It takes between one to two months for students to get admission to study in Turkey, either for undergraduate or post-graduate program, after application.
TUITION FEES IN TURKISH GOVERNMENT UNIVERSITIES
Turkish government universities have low tuition fees. Tuition fee ranges from N50,000 to N250,000 per year depending on the course of the students. Some universities charge tuition fee per semester.
HOW CAN STUDENTS GET ACCOMMODATION IN TURKEY
Students can get accommodation in Turkish Universities’ dormitories or hostels. Some schools in Turkey made it compulsory for students to stay in the dormitories. Other schools allow students to outside the school dormitory. Therefore in the nutshell, students can stay in either campus or off-campus. Private apartments are also available for students to stay.
Before we book flight for our students, we ensure that the student has an accommodation. If the student has someone to stay with already, he can choose to do so. But if the student does not have anyone to stay with in Turkey, he can stay in the school dormitory or private apartment. We shall ensure that we help our students to secure an apartment before they travel to Turkey.
Accommodation fee covers natural gas supply, internet Wi-Fi and water supply.
SECOND STAGE OF APPLICATION TO STUDY IN TURKEY
Visa application processing is the second stage of application to study in Turkey. This stage is the most important stage when it comes to applying to study abroad. We assist all our students in the visa processing stage.
Students are to go to the Turkish embassy in their countries to sit for visa interview. It is the embassy that decides whether to grant visa to the student or not. Interestingly, we have 90% Assurant of visa guarantee because:
